Similar species: Sweet White Violet (Viola blanda) - Grows in drier habitats than Northern White Violet; flowers have no scent. Kidney-leaved Violet (Viola renifolia) - Leaves are very kidney-shaped; flowers have no scent. Canada Violet (Viola canadensis) - Flowers much larger, with yellow throat.
