Similar species:
  •   White Avens (Geum canadense) - White flowers.

  •   Wood Avens (Geum urbanum) - Flowers are more yellow, fuller looking.

  •   Yellow Avens (Geum aleppicum) - Flowers are a richer yellow, fuller looking. Stem is stouter.

  •   Water Avens (Geum rivale) - Flowers are very different, grows in wetlands.


Flowers: Summer;  Yellow;  5 parts (petals);  Petals are naroower and sparser-looking than Wood Avens (Geum urbanum) and White Avens (Geum canadense), and are paler yellow.

Leaves: Alternate

Habitat: Forests

Native/Non-native: Native

Notes: Catlings Avens is a hybrid between Wood Avens (Geum urbanum) and White Avens (Geum canadense).
